| Interview December 14, 2007 |
Andres Velencoso is the most international Spanish
male model. Born in Tossa de Mar, in the Gerona province, started to be famous
thanks to a Louis Vuitton campaign, which he made with Jennifer Lopez. His
height almost 1,90m closed him many doors. He almost quit modelling since
he was too tall for it, at least in Spain. An agency chance - he is working with
VIEW right now - relaunched his career and that allowed him to make the best
campaigns and work with the best photographers. He lives between Barcelona and
New York.
Describe yourself in three words: nice, sensitive and humble.
What you wouldn't like people to tell about you: lies.
One unforgettable book moment: La sombra del viento.
One unforgettable sports moment: When Barcelona won the Europe
soccer
championship. It was in Paris and I was there.
And a movie moment: I liked a lot the last Coen brothers movie, No
Country
for Old Men, with a splendid Javier Bardem. I already saw it because I'm in
New York right now. The movie didn't arrive yet to Spanish theatres.
A book that marked your life: The ones that I read when I was a
child.
Do you read twice the same book? Never.
What do you like to do when you are not working? Enjoying to the
maximum my free time, travelling and being with my people.
What would you never do if you won the lottery? Waste the money.
And what would you do? I don't know. Investing; but that will
never happen
because I never play.
Do you make excuses when you don't feel like going to a place?
Yes, many times.
The most incredible and silly thing you had ever said? None.
A movie that you never forget? Always the last one I see.
A small pleaser on your job? Being able to travel and meet people.
And outside of it? Having the time to be with my family in Tossa
de Mar, my
village.
If you weren't a model, you would like to be: at first I wanted to
work in
restaurants like my father. I like those things about tasting foods in the
best restaurants and give or take away Michelin Guide stars.
Who do you envy the most? No one.
You wouldn't like to die without: enjoying my life to the maximum.
Current dream: None.
The best smell: The one that makes me remember old moments.
The best taste: The same, something that makes me remember and try
new
things.
The best sound: The sound of Costa Brava Sea, my place.
The best colour: The blue marine.
What were you doing when the Asturias Princes (Princes of Spain) got
married? I was in New York.
Where were you when the Twin Towers fall down? I was working in
New York.
What would you like the most to see in a newspaper: That finally a
cure for cancer was found.
And the news that lately impress you the most: the disagreement
between King Juan Carlos and Hugo Chavez.
Do you tend to cry while watching a movie? Yes, many times.
When and why you had an incontrollable laugh attack? Something
with my friends.
What makes you feel embarrassed? I get nervous when people talk
about me in public. I don't get used about losing my anonymity.
How do you spend your life? Travelling and doing castings. I
almost live in
a plane between Barcelona and New York.
We don't know too much about your private life, if you have or not a
girlfriend? I prefer to keep that part of my life to myself.
You worked with women like Jennifer Lopez and Petra Nemcova. What are they
like? I am not going to say anything bad. Petra is great and I owe a lot
to Jennifer thanks to the campaign I made with her. My future changed a lot. It
was great to see my photo on the Seventh Avenue.
